Insuficient data for an image

$

I have 3 users: User 1, User 2, and User 3. all running windows 10, 1903

I have a scanner: scanner 1.

If scanner 1 scans a document and emails it to user 1 or user 2, they can see it, no problem, using Reader DC Version 2019.012.20035

If user 1 creates a PDF, and sends it to user 3, they can see it, no problem, Reader DC Version 2019.012.20035

HOWEVER:

If scanner 1 emails a document to user 3, they can't see it, on either their desktop or their laptop, both using Reader DC Version 2019.012.20035

The error received it "Insufficient data for an image"

So, if the scanner works to two users, but not to a third, what's wrong with user 3's adobe installation?  It's NOT the scanner, the other two users can see scanned documents just fine from the scanner, using the exact same version of the reader software.

Is there some combination of windows, outlook, adobe, something that would cause this? and why on both the desktop and the laptop for that one user?

Will iProtectedView=2 allow cTrustedFolders?

$

In my environment (Windows Domain, Windows 10 clients) Acrobat Reader is hardened to the max, settings are applied via GPO

Protected View=2, JavaScript disabled etc.

We do receive PDF files with include JavaScripts and are a kind of automated forms.

Some of these our users need to handle, disregarding the hardening.

While reading I assumed I needed to add the TrustManager key, and then  below the cTrustedFolders.

Now, while still reading, it became more foggy, should I just add f.i. a string named T3 with value \\sharelocation\sharename\folder, or should I add first a key like cAlwaysTrustedForJavaScripts, and in there a string named T3 etc.??? I tried all of these, including to do this at HKCU, HKLM ( and then, Software\Adobe, or Software\Policies\Adobe or adding WOW6432node... enough choices). But none of these work.

Yes when I change iProtectedView to 1, things work, but none of the TrustManager keys will be used then.

I also tried to add cTrustedFolders with a string, and the variant with cAlwaysTrustedForJavaScripts and a string to FeatureLockDown, also does not work.

The main question, does iProtectedView=2 work correct with any PL setup via cTrustedFolders, or not.

Sending email from Acrobat professional/Reader freezes Outlook 2016. The only way to resolve is to close Acrobat professional/Reader or kill 64bitmapibroker.exe.

Occurs on reader version 18 or 19 as well as Acrobat DC and 17 professional.

I would appreciate an help with this issue.

Unable to validate signatures on document created with DocuSign

Hello,

I have a PDF with digital signatures that was signed with DocuSign. I can validate the signed document and everything looks good when I use https://validator.docusign.com/ However when I open the document with Acrobat Reader DC the signature validation does not succeed, and I'm wondering why. Under the signature I see the following: "Signature is invalid: There are errors in the formatting of information contained in this signature". When I click on validate signature I get the following error message: "Error during signature verification. Error encountered while validating: Internal cryptographic library error. Error Code: 0x2711".

Any ideas on how to investigate the exact cause for the error?

Thanks.

How can I customize the Tools Pane (Right Side) in Adobe Reader DC?

I need to be able to add the Certificates app and if possible remove the Fill & Sign and Send for Signature tools.  I've been looking at the .aapp files and the registry entries they create, but can't seem to alter which ones load into the right hand pane.  We use a 3rd party digital certificate across multiple applications for signing documents and I'm trying to make it easier for users to access this tool in Reader DC.

Any way to ALWAYS TRUST PDF to PDF links within file folders on PC, in Reader 11 and DC versions?

$

We developed a PDF presentation for\a customer, based on files from PowerPoint.  We added links to other PDF documents, organized in subfolders (ie Spec Sheet).  The links open with a message to allow or block the document.  It does not provide the option to Always Trust, as it does with embedded Video.  The enhanced security option does not work for paths. Is there another way to ALWAYS Trust the documents, instead of this annoying message appearing every time you open a document in the presentation.  There are hundreds of linked documents in groups of subfolders.

Thank you for your help.

Insufficient data for an image after encrypting with Azure Information Protection

I've run into a very specific scenario where Acrobat Reader DC with the MSRMS plugin throws an "Insufficient data for an image" error after encrypting files that were originally created by the Canon iR3570 or Canon iR4570 device.  These files will open with the Azure Information Protection Viewer.  Other PDF files encrypted by AIP open and display their contents without issue.  I've tried running the files through ghostscript and tinkering with various settings, but haven't been able to find an option that makes a difference.

My version of Acrobat Reader DC is 2019.012.20035.  As of yesterday there were no additional updates available.

We are experiencing problems with Acrobat Reader 2017 Classic Track (2017.011.30142) after upgrading to Windows 10 1903: On some systems, as soon as you try to launch Reader with an external touchscreen connected (video signal via DP, touchscreen via USB) it crashes instantly on startup with an error message. Eventlog shows this entry:

If you disconnect the touchscreen or disable protected mode it won't crash. Reenabling or reconnecting the touchscreen causes the crashes again. The error persists across all users on affected computers.

Any help how to mitigate this problem is higly appreciated.

Issue validating signatures

$

Hello,

I am having an issue validating some signatures while using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I have a digitaly signed pdf document that appears as invalid on Acrobat Reader DC but appears as valid both in iText and FoxitReader.

When I open the file in Adobe Reader DC and validate the signature i get this message:

Error during signature verification.

Error encountered while validating:

Error encountered while BER decoding:

When I try to access the certificates by clicking "Certificate Details" nothing happens.

On the other side, whenever I validate the signature with either FoxitReader or iText the signature appears as valid and I can access the certificate chain used for the signature.

The certificate is not a "signing certificate" (e.g.  Certificate doesn't have the "non-repudiation" or "digitalSignature" Key usages), which we purposely ignore for this signature. Also Acrobat Reader would give a diferent error if such was the only problem.

Additionaly, if I corrupt the hash used in the signature (with the same certificate), i get to access the certificate chain in the document  with Adobe ReaderDC, even though i get the error stating that the signature has been corrupted or modified.

The documents are:

signed and no corrupted hash

signed and with corrupted hash

Would appreciate any help on understanding why this happens.

Thanks in advance,

I have an Amazon Kindle Fire HD 10. I use it to read pdf documents, and I used to edit, highlight, and write on them with no problem. Then I used to save them in my dropbox and I was able to see my comments and edition in different devices. Some months ago this changed. Whenever I open a pdf document in my Kindle I have this warning: "The file will be opened as view only" so when I edit the pdf I just cannot save it. I don't understand how that happened or why. I tried uninstalling dropbox and adobe reader, I have also restarted the device. I noticed this only happens in my kindle, I can edit the documents and open them from my dropbox in other devices such as my laptop with no problem. Can anybody help me, please?
