Plug-In required by this "GoToR" action

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. When trying to pick on a chapter (link) ,  a Security Warning pops up that states "this document is trying to access: \\users\manoj.manjhi\desktop\TOC_Conklin\Untitled-1.pdf" If you trust this document, choose Allow. If you do not trust this document, choose Block. I chose Allow. The next pop up states: Acrobat Reader... The plug-in required by this "GoToR" action is not available. Information about the missing plug-in may be available on Adobe's Website.

There is no mention to the actual plug-in name required. How do I get this problem fixed? Thanks in advance for your time and help.

I'm trying to print a file which consists of 148 pages. I say trying because the word "flattening" always appears at the 44% mark. Then the message Adobe Reader 'not responding' appears at the top of the screen.  I really need to print this file. Oh, my printer works fine, that is first thing I checked. I am so frustrated! Can you help me with this problem?

Document not rendering properly

Screenshot (2).png

Every time I open my forms and I move the mouse to any area of the document, the document turns black and scrambled. I tried some options on the Document Display settings, Rendering and Display Options and it does not help. Sometimes if I move the mouse out of the document the document displays properly. I already uninstalled and re-installed Acrobat Reader DC. Any ideas?

After some hours, pages go blank in Acrobat Reader DC and it says "Problem reading document (109)" or "There was an error reading a stream". How to fix this?

Hi,

I have a very frustrating daily problem using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on a Windows 10 PC.

All documents are displayed just fine, but after some hours - typically the next day - parts of pages or whole pages of opened documents are blank and an error message dialog like "Problem reading document (109)" or "There was an error reading a stream" or "Insufficient data for an image" pops up. Why not just open the document again? And why throw away the document in the first place?

This happens with documents on my network where it's easily reproduced, but I'm not sure if I've experienced it with local files. There seems to be no problems with the network otherwise, I've never seen it glitch or act sluggish or or disappear or anything.

Every day when the problem hits me I have to close the documents and open them again, which is super tedious in the new Home/Recent menu and the new worsified Search field. Only one document can be opened at a time, even if many can be selected with the checkboxes. *explodingheadstupid* The program jumps to the opened file, and I need to go to the Home menu manually again, open the next file, and so on.

This makes Acrobat Reader feel like a very unprofessional tool. Anyone with the same problem - or a solution?

Best,

M

Adobe Reader can't save dropdown list

Hello,

We are using Adobe Reader DC last version (I've re-downloaded it and checked update).

We are currently working with a document wich doesn't behave like it should : it's dropdown aren't properly saved.
When we change one of this field, everything is saved correctly expect the dropdown.

Of course i've tried this problem with a different computer.

What is even weirder is the fact that, displayed by chrome our result are not shown but displayed by edge it is !

What can we do to resolve this situation ? How should we proceed to save the information, keeping the dropdown mechanics but enabling everyone to see that it is being displayed on adobe reader DC ?

Here's a link to download THE file : WeTransfer

I'm an IT guy, so go technical if you need it.

Thanks in advance

Appcontainer causing blank window when opening PDF

We have a web application which users can open pdf documents within a new IE window.  With "run in AppContainer" enabled, the IE window is just blank window (grey background).  If I set Run in AppContainer to disabled it works fine and displays the pdf document.

Strangely I have found that if I change the DocumentMode Emulation from Docmode 11 to docmode 9 or docmode 5 it does display the pdf correctly within the IE window.

Also If I disable the adobe reader plugin for IE, it prompts to open the pdf and then opens fine in full adobe reader DC program. The website is added to the trusted sites list via GPO.

I have tried enabling bUseWhitelistConfigFile and using a completely unrestrictive configuration using wildcard * for each option but didn't help.

We have the latest version of Adobe Reader DC installed 19.012.20035

We are running Windows 10 1803 build.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Adobe Reader DC - Slow Launch

$

Hi,

We are having trouble with Adobe Reader DC.  It is taking a very long time to open (2minutes) for a large section of our computers.  We are running Windows 10 with the latest Reader version.  I have tried turning off Protected Mode (as described is several forum posts) and that does fix the issue but should obviously not be left off.  Deleting the temp files only fixes it until the next launch.  I am hoping to get help solving this issue or news about long term fixes for it. Thanks.

Can't get rid of Touch to install reader

$

There is another similar post on the forum but it is inconclusive or doesn't help.

I have a windows 10 PC. I have NOT installed adobe touch.  When I click on programs the app is shown and it asks whether I want to install it. To me this indicates that it isn't installed. Also I cannot see an adobe folder in my programs folder. Finally, when I search in settings, adobe reader or reader touch are not in the list.

When I try to install adobe reader from the adobe site it goes through the process and then says that there is already a more up to date version of adobe installed!!!

If there is a more up to date version, where is it and how do I get rid of it?

What I am trying to do is download a document from the UK HMRC website and complete it but when I do this I get the following message:

"Please wait... If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows®, Mac, or Linux® by visiting http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. For more assistance with Adobe Reader visit http://www.adobe.com/support/products/ acrreader.html."

Of course, I do wait but nothing happens and the sites I am directed to are simply generic adobe sites that seem to provide no help.

Email button causes outlook to freeze

When ever a user presses the mail button ( the little envelop ) and selects the default mail application, which is Microsoft outlook, it causes outlook to freeze until all Acrobat DC instances are closed. The email will go through, an new mail pop up appears with the PDF attached. But then outlook will be unresponsive until acrobat DC is closed out. Has any one seen this and know of any solutions? I have repaired office and Acrobat and still get the issue.

Thank you

Reader Install fails with Error 1721

$

Updates to Reader have been failing for about 2 months. Today I uninstalled Reader and tried to reinstall it per the instructions on the Troubleshooting page. On the first attempt thru Firefox it appeared to be 99% complete then failed with an error message "Newer Version already installed".

I tried closing my browser and launching the installer directly. This time it appeared to successfully install Reader and progressed thru the Optimizing Performance and Publishing Product Info stages but stopped with error 1721 When MSI tries to launch RdrServicesUpdater. Event Viewer shows - Action: InstallWebResources, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroCEF\RdrServicesUpdater.exe, command: 19.012.20034

Searching my hard drive for RdrServicesUpdater shows a "RdrServicesUpdater2_1901020100.exe" at C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ARM\{291AA914-A987-4CE9-BD63-AC0A92D435E5} installed about 2 months ago about the time my problems started.

Is there a way for me to install Reader without trying to launch the RdrServicesUpdater or somehow direct the installer to use RdrServicesUpdater2_1901020100.exe if that is a viable option?

Thanks in advance.

(By the way I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with Firefox 67.0)

Update: So I restored my System back to when I had the older version installed, Ran the C++ update as described in the almost identical thread on this site about error #1722 (got a message the update already was installed), manually swapped the msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll files (per Option 3) and then retried the Reader update with the same result as above, the first time it said "newer version installed" and undid the update. Then I ran the install locally and again it stopped after optimization and publishing the program info with the #1721 error. This time I just killed the installer and MSI processes while it was waiting for me to acknowledge the error and before it could revert the update, which left me with the newer version by the brute force method.

It is unfortunate that the installer is written to undo a viable update just because it can't confirm that it is the latest version with the local updater.

Waiting for a more elegant solution, but in the meantime I guess I've got a workaround to manually update Reader....

Latest version of reader DC very slow

$

Good afternoon,

We have been having this issue for a very long time where Adobe Acrobat Reader DC would run extremely slow on all of our systems (firm-wide). I have been in talks with the helpdesk and they pointed me to this forum after trying to help. I have left a copy of the entire chat below which explains the issue in detail along with what has been tried and discussed.

Ever since the update after 18.011.20058, acrobat reader has been extremely slow (we started noticing it on version ending 69).

I have been tackling this issue for a long time and haven't been able to find any solutions. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Helpdesk chat:

Me:

We have been having an issue with adobe acrobat reader DC firm-wide, where it is slow no matter what size of PDF is opened

I am so sorry that you have been facing such an issue with our application.

it is really frustrating, I've been trying to fix it for months now.

currently, our solution is to downgrade to version 18.011.20058 and disable auto updates but as you can imagine this is really inconvenient

also, sometimes this solution wont work and will update to the latest release, where the issue still persists

Them:

Connecting you with a specialist as soon as possible.

May I know that are you using Acrobat Pro DC or Reader DC?

Me:

reader DC, current version is 19.010.20098

Them:

I would like to share with you that we do not support Acrobat Reader DC over the chat or phone as we have the experts available online for that.

Please visit on forums.adobe.com

Me:

would you be able to give me any other material... I did spend over 30 minutes waiting for a response

Them:

Certainly! May I know which operating system you are using currently, Is that windows or mac?

windows

I would suggest you to clear the temp files of the system also check for the windows update and also once uninstall and reinstall the app.

Me:

uninstall + reinstall has been performed on multiple systems already with the same issue once it updated itself back to version ending 98

our systems are configured to automatically download all windows updates and the issue has been occurring on over 50 systems, with different configurations

Them:

Slow processing of any application is not only the application issue however its also depends upon the system configuration as well. As you have windows 7 currently which does not have the latest display drivers also the processor.

Me:

it is also happening on a few windows 10 systems, 2 systems of which are brand new

this is definitely an application issue, as i said when we use version 18.011.20058 it works fine

Them:

I apologize for that. I would request you to check online once as we have the dedicated support available there.

Me:

ok, thank you
