Reader installation is not successful

Dell Vostro 400 desktop. Windows XP Pro 32 SP3, 3GB Ram

 

Received message that Adobe Reader had to close and asked if I wanted to send report to Microsoft and I did. Additional information indicated I needed to upgrade reader from Reader 10 to 11. I downloaded the installer and it appeared to install. However, it does not appear in my programs.  I thought perhaps I needed to uninstall Reader 10 and try again. Again it failed although the screen said, Installation Successful. I tried this with anti virus both off and on, tried safe mode, No success. I switched user and tried again, no success. I restored computer to an earlier day, no success.

 

Contacted Dell software solutions who also tried but failed and installed Foxit PDF Reader so that I could view PDF files. Any help? Install does not complete itself regardless of download or attempting to install from Reader 9 from my Photoshop Elements installation disk

Install fails. Reader XI

Previous post about this problem. Followed recommendation from Pat Willener and have tried all the options offered. I still cannot install and do not see where I can submit Cleaner log file. Have run Microsoft Fixit to help with install and uninstall. I do not have enough courage to tackle registry files like QUID and SQUID files in registry, because I do not know what I am doing or what parameters are needed, or what I can really mess up in the process.

 

Dell Vostro 400 desktop, XP Pro SR3, 3 GB Ram, 2.4 GHZ quad core processor.

I am in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal and have loaded Reader on my new business computer.  Everything on the computer is in English, but I cannot get Reader to be in English.

Adobe Reader Toolbar Problem

I am having a TOOLBAR problem with Adobe Reader 10.0 and 11.0. When I update from Reader 9.0 to either one of the aforementioned I do not get a toolbar so I have to revert to 9.0. What is the problem? My operating system is Windows XP 64.

font display and download problem

Hi all, I use Reader 10.1.4 in WIN7. The PDF has many text labels in font type Myriad Pro. I face 2 problems with the font.

1.

I have a PDF which can switch between English, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese display. So when I switch the page from English to simplified Chinese, it should ask me to download simplified Chinese font pack. However, PDF pops up a warning and asks me to download Japanese language support pack. By clicking on OK, it opens the Jp pack download page (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4881) in the web browser.

 

After downloading this pack (it installs 2 files, KozGoPr6N-Medium and KozMinPr6N-Regular in Reader DIR/Resource/CIDFont), I open the PDF and switch to Chinese again. This time it asks for simplified Chinese language support pack and take me to this page (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4883).

Same thing applies to traditional Chinese. PDF directs me to download JP pack first, and second time direct to CN pack download page.

If the page is switched to Korean, PDF directs me to the correct Korean pack page.

I wonder why it goes to download JP, when I was only trying to read in CN. Is there any way to correct Reader's misbehavior?

 

Also I tested in Vista, if I switch the PDF to display JP or CN (simplified or traditional), it directs me to simplified Chinese pack download page. After downloading the pack, all languages (CN, JP, KR) can be displayed! if I switch the PDF to display KR, it asks to download KR pack only.

 

the pack download behavior is totally unpredictable!

 

2.

Remeber that iJP pack installs 2 files, KozGoPr6N-Medium and KozMinPr6N-Regular into Reader DIR/Resource/CIDFont.  KozGoPr6N-Medium is also causing trouble!

With this file, some of the text labels in my PDF are unexpectedly BOLD in CN page. All labels are bold in JP page. All labels remain what they are in KR page.

If I remove KozGoPr6N-Medium from the directory, PDF can be displayed normally in all language.

How can I avoid the misbehavior of BOLD? I can't manage to download the font pack without downloading KozGoPr6N-Medium!

This happens to Myriad Pro. If the text labels are changed to Times New Roman, everything looks fine.

This happens only with Adobe Reader XI and Evernote.

Ive already checked for viruses and i can access the registry so its not a virus... so idk.

suggestions?

My computer tells me that download newer version is ready to install but it only gets about 70% of the way through then says it has a problem and keeps cancelling installation. Very annoying

I am using Adobe Reader X (10.1.1).  My upgrade preference is set at "Automatic download and install upgrades".  I want to change it to "Do not download or install upgrades", but when I check that box, it automatically gets changed to "Automatic download" when I submit the change.  How can I make it accept the "Do not load upgrade" check box?

Hi. I know this question has been asked numerous times, but I cannot locate a specific answer regarding this, so thanks in advance.

 

I have built a form in Adobe Acrobat XI (which also has a lot of JavaScript). When someone opens this form in version 9, the message "Data typed into this form will not be saved." I have looked at all usage rights, and every menu/properties page I can find and I see now want to enable this in version XI. There are plenty of answers if you're using Acrobat Pro 9 - you go under the Advanced men and enable this. There is no advanced setting in Version XI. How can I have someone save their PDF in version 9 when I've built it in version XI?

Copy Highlighted Text in Pdf file

Hi everyone,

 

Recently I downloaded the Adobe Reader X (version 10.0). This version allows me to highlight text (in yellow colour). However, If I want to copy a highlighted block of text (for instance to paste into a Word document), I am not able to do this. When I select the highlighted text and click on the right mouse click, it doesn't give me the opportunity to copy this text. Therefore, I was wondering whether I can copy the highlighted text in another way?

Can't install Adobe Reader 11

Once I have finished downloading the .exe file for Adobe Reader 11, an error message pops up saying the .exe file is not a vaild Win32 application. I am running Windows 7 64-bit. I uninstalled a version of Adobe Reader 10 because it was unable to open perfectly good .pdf files, saying the files were corrupted. Any ideas on how I can install Adobe Reader 11? It's difficult not having it!

Cannot find or create the font 'arial unicode ms' error message

I get this when I try to read a pdf off the Web.  I have another Win 7 machine and it reads okay with Adobe Reader 9.  The machine with an error is a brand new dell Vostro Win 7 Pro 64bit.  I have Adobe Reader X installed on the Dell.  I also tried version 9 on the new Dell and get the same message.  I'm baffled. 

 

Any thoughts?

Arial Unicode MS font not viewable in Adobe Reader 9

I have created a form in Acrobat Acrobat X Pro which has some labels in Arial Unicode MS font and when i view the form in Reader 9, I'm not able to view the labels. I have Arial Unicode MS font installed on my machine. What could be the problem?

can't open a pdf document over two or more junction points

Hello,

 

if i open a pdf document that's stored in a directory and this directiry is accessable over two or mor junction points, it will be fail. The message say something abount access denied, but the security is set to full access. In other application (e.g. notepad.exe) i can access this document. Then i tested it with one junction point and it works.

 

So here is a szenario to test:

 

1) Put a pdf document at C:\Folder1\PDF-Document.pdf

2) I can access C:\Folder1\PDF-Document.pdf with Acrobat Reader

3) Create a Junction Point from C:\Folder2 to C:\Folder1

4) I can access C:\Folder2\PDF-Document.pdf with Acrobat Reader

5) Create a Junction Point from C:\Folder3 to C:\Folder2

6) I can't access C:\Folder3\PDF-Document.pdf with Acrobat Reader !!!

 

I can normaly access the file at C:\Folder3\PDF-Document.pdf but not with Acrobat Reader! In Notepad i can open the pdf document.

 

I tested the lasted version 11.0.1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 (Service Pack 1) with all normally available patches.

 

What's wrong? The original structure with the junction points are greater than the example above. But i've reduced it to this simple example.

 

Can anyone help?
