Adobe Acrobat Reader DC just wont open

$

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC just doesn't open. I've tired uninstalling and installing it again (during which it told me I had to close any running Acrobat applications, so they must have been completely invisible to me in the background), so I restarted my computer, uninstalled, reinstalled, still the same problem.

I'm on Windows 10 by the way.

Also letzte Woche ging alles noch.

Was kann ich noch tun um die zum laufen zu bringen.

Acrobat Reader DC Save As Issue

Exception being thrown in the AcroPDF.dll thread when trying to display PDF from within our application.

We develop an MFC application that allows users to view PDFs from within it. We do this by creating an MFC modal window in the application, then hosting an instance of one of our objects that subclasses the Microsoft CHtmlView class. To display the PDF, we get path to the file and call the inherited "CHtmlView::Navigate2()" method.

There has been no issue with this until recently, where some users are seeing the entire application crash occasionally when trying to view a PDF.

NOTE: Adobe Reader XI (11.20.17) is installed.

I had the user create a dump file using debug diagnostics, and it looks like there is an exception being thrown in an AcroPDF.dll thread, due to a call in the MakeAccessible.api plugin having a read access violation at a very low memory location:

Unhandled exception at 0x5F126E1D (MakeAccessible.api) in dump_file_name_removed.dmp: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000018.

If there is a handler for this exception, the program may be safely continued.

And the call stack exhibits symptoms like the heap might be corrupted, because we're seeing calls to some of our methods within the AcroPDF.dll thread. (Methods that we defined, but we ourselves never call into)

Call stack looks like this:

I've tried tracking down anything in the logic around displaying PDFs that might point to bad memory management and might cause heap corruption and I couldn't find anything.

Furthermore, I was later informed that this doesn't only happen when trying to view PDFs within our client, but also happens occasionally when trying view a PDF within Adobe reader independently.

Which leads me to believe there might be an issue with one of the adobe libraries.

Additionally, the user uninstalled reader and has been testing it for about a month now with a third party PDF viewer and hasn't seen a crash when trying to view PDFs yet.

Lastly, there are a couple other users who have Adober Reader DC installed (Win 7 and Win 10) who can view the first PDF successfully, but see the client crash after closing it and trying to view a 2nd one. In the dump file, they are also getting an Access violation at a very low memory location, but this time it's in the AcroPDFImpl.dll thread.  (Coincidentally it works fine for them in Adobe Reader XI  )

Unfortunately, I have not been able to create any of these issues locally with Adobe Reader XI installed, or on a VM where I have Adobe Reader DC installed . So I'm hoping someone here might have some more insight?

Acrobat Reader DC crashes when emailing pdf through Outlook 2013

I've searched through all the most recent posts like this one:  Attaching PDFs to email crashes Acrobat DC   and this one: Re: Acrobat Reader DC crashes when sending pdfs via email  and neither of those fixes work for me.

We have a small Citrix server farm (7 servers running Windows Server 2012 R2) and whenever someone opens a pdf and then tries to use the email function (to attach and email through Outlook, which is on Office 365 using Outlook 2013) Acrobat Reader DC crashes.  We're on the latest version on all servers (17.009.2044) and they show no available updates. This happens on all 7 servers.  WE did recently move to Office 365 from an on-premise Exchange 2013 environment.  This issue popped up shortly after that.

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - Nothing Happens

$

Hi,

When I double click a pdf, the program opens but nothing else happens. I can't view the file and when I hit "show all windows", everything zooms out and I see the file name of the file I was trying to open, but not a small thumbnail of it like I remember seeing. I'm using a 2015 Macbook pro, and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Just updated it and reinstalled it, and it is still happening. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Stop RdrCEF.exe from running

Hello, we have Citrix servers where Reader DC is installed.  I was spending time checking the processes running on the server and there were many, many instances of RdrCEF.exe running.  After doing some research on this process I'm still not clear on what it does.  Is it used for Reader updates?  Is it used for syncing cloud services?  Maybe both?  Different posts say different things.  Either way, we update Reader through other means and we do not need the cloud service, so we do not need or want RdrCEF running.  I've searched and searched, but cannot find anything about how to stop this process from running other than renaming the .exe file.

I saw this post below where other people were complaining about it on Citrix servers too, but there was nothing in there about stopping RdrCEF from running.

RdrCEF high cpu usage

I have implemented these registry keys, but RdrCEF.exe still runs.  Am I missing other registry keys to stop the RdrCEF.exe from launching?  Is there anything else I can do, other than rename the .exe file?

Adobe Reader DC always starts as if it is the first start

Freshly installed Windows 10 Professional on my computer including software for visually impaired people:

- Freedom Scientific's JAWS 17 (advanced screen reader)

- Freedom Scientific's MAGic 13.1 (enhanced screen magnification and adjustment software)

Afterwards I noticed I forgot to install Adobe Reader so went to the website, downloaded the latest version and installed it.

Now every time I try to open a PDF, Adobe Reader DC starts as if it's the first start. In my case that means that it comes up with the accessibility assistant (due to detecting the software above) as well as the "welcome to adobe reader" kind off pop-up with 5 slides of new things in Adobe Reader DC.

Also preferences that I set (like starting in one-page zoomed view) are not remembered and restored to default upon closing the program.
Starting the program as administrator (which I am anyway) does not change a thing.

Anyone got any idea what's wrong here?

Getting really fed up with the issue and spend a day trying to solve it already.

What does this mean?

Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open [at attachment to an email to me] because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

Was this the sender's error or mine or neither?

I run Windows 7, sp1 on a Dell Inspiron 530. I have not had trouble with Reader until last week. Several things occurred that might be an influence. Windows Update installed KB3186497 on the 8th and I installed Driver Support, which updates drivers, last week.

I have looked at the highly technical problem from April. I can't keep Reader open to even give the repair option a try.

Is there a fix or a workaround? Any help is appreciated!

Thx. C

Adobe Reader XI 11.0.10

Hey,

A current client of my company has several Windows 2012 R2 servers. On every server but one they have 11.0.15 installed and it works perfectly fine. On the one server with 11.0.10 they are unable to open an invoice from Russia despite having the Asian font pack installed and updated. This invoice also does not open with the latest version of Adobe DC and the clients wish to continue using 11.0.15 despite the security risks.

I have two thoughts on this problem.

First, is there anyone that I can find a 11.0.15 exe file?

Second, am I somehow not connecting the adobe font pack correctly to the preexisting 11.0.10 application?

Thank you.

I have a PDF file on a network that is set to open Full Screen.  On three computers, it opens to full screen just fine.  On computer #4, it will not open to full screen.  All other files on the network open to full screen with that computer, but that particular file will not. It opens with the tool bar open on the right side.

Old issue, can't find solution, time sensitive

I have found a hand full of threads on this issue, but none of the workarounds are working for me. The most recent one I can find is from 2011.

I have a Word doc with a table, borders around each cell. I have reset the borders to make sure they are all the same thickness, and it looks fine in Word.

I convert to pdf, either Reader or Acrobat - it does the same thing. A seemingly random assortment of cell border lines disappear. If I zoom in, one or two reappear, but most are still missing—not faint, just gone.

If I print, they appear, but this is for a website, so that doesn't really help.

Some of the cells are a slightly darker shade than the others, and I have tried moving the color box off the border line, but there is nothing underneath but white.

I have tried clicking "enhance thin lines," which was already clicked.

I have tried clicking and unclicking "Replace Document Colors" just because someone claimed it worked, though I don't really know what it has to do with cell borders.

I could search the forums all day, but I have other projects that need my attention! Would be grateful for any new insights. Thanks!
