I have a new PC, and have downloaded the most recent version of Acrobat Reader DC.  It is a touchscreen laptop, running windows 10.  In Acrobat, I have designated it to be the default PDF reader, but all files still open with Microsoft edge.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling acrobat, but this has not helped.  Appreciate any assistance.

Adobe Reader X freezes when opening PDFs

Hello,

we have a problem in our enterprise enviroment with Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1.6 on Windows XP (32-bit). When trying to open a PDF file it seems that the application has crashed. Adobe Reader freezes for about 10-15 seconds and then responds again. This happens we the user tries to open PDFs on his local machine or on mapped network drives.

We have used following Registry modifications when deploying the application in our environment:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------

  - MSI install: \Msidata\AcroRead.msi

- Registry mod: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\FeatureLockDown\cWelcomeScreen - bShowWelcomeScreen:0

- Registry mod: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\FeatureLockDown\CCloud - bDisableADCFileStore:1

- Registry mod: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\FeatureLockDown - bUpdater:0

- Registry mod: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\WorkFlows - bEnableAcrobatHS:0

- Registry mod: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\AdobeViewer - EULA:1

- MSI patch: \Msidata\AdbeRdrUpd1015.msp

- MSI patch: \Msidata\AdbeRdrSecUpd1016.msp

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------

What we have tried:

- delete user's application data  in C:\Documents and Settings\{WindowsUser}\Local Settings\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Cache\*

- delete user's application data  in C:\Documents and Settings\{WindowsUser}\Local Settings\Adobe\*

- delete user's application data  in C:\Documents and Settings\{WindowsUser}\Application Data\Adobe\*

- giving the user full access (NTFS) in the 3 folders above

- giving the user full access (NTFS) in the %PROGRAMFILES%\Adobe Reader

- removing windows user profile and creating a new one (very strange)

- full removal of Adobe Reader and reinstall doesn't help

- the problem doesn't occur when you open PDFs as a local administrator

- only a full reinstall of the computer fixes the problem (very strange)

What we cannot do:

- upgrade Adobe Reader due to a 3rd party plugin which doesn't support a newer version of Adobe Reader

I hope someone has any suggestions and can help me! Thanks in advance!

I have recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 10, and now have issues with printing Adobe Acrobat Reader docs sent to me via my eFax account.  They are basically printing all black with lettering in white...rather than vice versa.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Acrobat Reader DC keeps crashing when multiple pdf files are open and I switch between them.

I have a PC, Win 8.1.  I notice the problem specifically when I have search boxes open in the files and I attempt to switch between the open pdfs.  If I just have one pdf open I don't have this issue.  This makes searching through multiple documents at once impossible.

Procedure entry point not found

I have a number of OS's at my disposal (mostly Windows) including Windows XP (which admittedly, I rarely use now). XP has Adobe Reader installed and it seems like it must have been set to automatically update.

For the past few days, every time I start XP (or make any attempt to use Adobe Reader) I see a message box saying The procedure entry point CreateProcessWithTokenW could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll

According to what I've read on the internet, this is because the latest versions of Adobe Reader are no longer compatible with XP. So I'm guessing I'll either have to roll it back somehow - or uninstall and re-install an earlier version (my current version is 11.0.06).

How do I go about getting an earlier version? And what version should I be using for compatibility with XP?

Thanks, John

How do I Stop Full Screen and Disable the Sidebar in Reader DC?

$

I've got Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, 2015 Release, Version 2015.009.20079.

I work on a PC with a large monitor (3840x2160 resolution).

Every time I open a PDF, it goes Full Screen with the Sidebar on the Right open (Export, Create, Edit, Comment, Fill & Sign, Send for Signature, Send & Track).

There does not appear to be a setting anywhere to have Reader **NOT** open Full Screen, and I cannot find a way to Turn OFF that Sidebar.

If I were using a phone, I might want Reader to be Full Screen, but I am not. I am on a desktop with plenty of real estate on the screen to show a full document.

After clicking the window control to make Reader go back to a Normal window, now the PDF is all skewed because of that stupid Sidebar.

Over 99% of the time I open a PDF, it is just to look at the information or print a certain page. The Sidebar is useless for me. As long as those features are buried deep in a menu and I can get to them when needed, that's all I care about.

Is there a way to turn the Full Screen opening option OFF and to either Disable the Sidebar or have it remain minimized?

If I can't do that in Reader, then just let me know so I can uninstall it and start using another PDF viewer.
