crashes for ia32.api & acropdf.dll - Module attempted to call the following unloaded Module

Our application uses Internet Explorer with the default PDF viewer as Adobe Reader to display PDFs.  The html just specifies "open file xxx.pdf" and the default viewer is invoked.  This works fine and the user closes the PDF when done and goes on his way.  But we see a lot of errors where our application registers a crash, and when the crash dump is analyzed the crash is below:

another Module attempted to call the following unloaded Module: IA32.api or AcroPDF.dll

What causes this and how to avoid?  This is happening on Win7 32 bit & IE11

Unable to open PDF from IE web pages

Windows 7, IE 11, Adobe Reader XI

I have no problem opening same when using Chrome so there must be some setting that I've failed to find in IE. I've reinstalled AR several times and adjusted as many IE settings as I've found suggestions for in the forum and elsewhere. Obviously, it's a real pain to have to go to Chrome every time I want to save a statement.

What would you suggest I try next?

Error 1935 - Adobe Reader (11) - An error occurred during the installation of assembly component - Windows 7

NOT RESOLVED
It seems to be a problem with my windows installation. I will re-install at a later date since installing PDF viewing programs the only issue.

Problem:
While installing Adobe Reader XI using the install_reader11_en_mssd_aaa_aih.exe fromAdobe Reader Install for all versionsand AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi from a forum post on here. Error 1935 occurs using both installers and causes the setup to fail and initiate rollback.

Additional information:

In Programs & Features list there is no adobe reader as you can see:
Installed stuff.png

This is pretty much a clean install of windows on which I have installed: Adobe Flash Player (16), Steam + some games, Chrome, Skype and some Visual C++ Redistributables, .NET Framwork, Drivers for GPU, CPU, Motherboard and USB devices.

Error:

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component
{B708EB72-AA82-3EB7-8BB0-D845BA35C93D}.
HRESULT: 0x80070308

System:
Windows 7 x64 - installed on a SSD.
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme 4
GPU: Gigabtye - G1 Gaming GTX 970
CPU: Intel Core - i7 4770K @4.00 GHz
RAM: 16GB Kingston Hyper X (8x2)

Steps taken:

1. I have cleared the transaction log using command prompt with the following command:
    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
Restarting the computer and trying to install Adobe Reader 11 results in the same error.

2.Restarting the computer, disabling Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and installing Adobe Reader 11 results in the same error.

3. Chrome has "allow all sites to run JavaScript" checked.

Thanks

Edit:

I have attempted to install an earlier version (10.1.4) of Adobe Reader - Same error occurs.

Edit 2:

I'm going to look for some alternatives for the mean time

Edit 2.1:
These alternative programs are failing to install as well. Multiple errors, I now assume the issue is with my windows installation.

IE 11 Won't open PDF unless I disable and enable the Adobe add-on?

I'm using IE 11 under Windows 7, whenever I try to open a pdf in the explorer it prompts me if I want to open or save?  If I disable the add-on and re-enable it works fine - I don't even have to restart the explorer - and it works fine from that point on until I reboot my computer.  After rebooting I have to go through the process again to get it to work.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this?  I'm using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10).  Thanks for any help....

GPO Scaling with Microsoft Surface Pro 3

Our practice is running Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablets.

Since the resolution on the tablets are so high, and Microsoft lacks the ability to provide correctly scaled Video Drivers, we opted to FONT ZOOM at 200%.

This relieves eye strain for our dominant applications.

This solution however creates chaos with Adobe Reader (Touch) edition.

I cannot find a HKLM regkey or Adobe ADMX GPO that forces the following Reader 11.x setting, on all deployed tablets

  • Edit - Preferences
    • General
      • Scale for screen resolution

*** This needs to change from Auto-Detectto SYSTEM

The second issue I'm having, is battling with "Windows 8.1 default PDF viewer".

If adobe is installed, the end user(s) using the tablets, are prompted to "Set Adobe as the Default PDF viewer".

The prompt, at times, gets buried behind other applications, and the user becomes frustrated with the "ding.... ding.... ding...", as they cannot figure out what is preventing them from moving forward.

Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated

I need help with sending an application form,Adobe Reader, do not know what I am doing.

I am applying for a job online with a local business. The application form is online it said Adobe Reader. I filled in all of the question boxes and now want to send it to my email so I can see what it looks like not sure how to do that and I see it said have to sign before sending do not understand that hope I don't need to scan my signature or something. I have saved it save as text multiple times as I was filling it out I hope it is saved with the text in it I still have to finish cover letter, not required but a good idea I think and so I either will have to attach it to my cover letter unless I can put it on the same page at the end of cover letter, I read some where not a good idea to put application as attachment so maybe I should send separately but need to know how to send it first.

I'm using Adobe Reader 11.0.10 and Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013. My Adobe reader will automatic close once I open MS Words, but it is fine if I open Ms Excel. I also cannot open Adobe Reader if I already open Ms Words before that. I have tried to re-install both adobe and MS Office but the same problem recurred. Any solution for this?

Problems saving a file in Adobe Reader 11 after highlighting

$

Hi,

Has anyone come across a problem where Adobe Reader 11 seems to have problems in saving certain files after highlighting some text?

One of our processes involves checking information and to do this we open up a saved PDF file in Adobe Reader 11 and highlight the relevant text to confirm the amounts have been checked, and then save the file.

This is all done in Adobe Reader - not the full version and not using any external helpers etc, and running under Windows 8 64 bit.

However one of our users is having problems with certain PDF files where, when she goes to save the file after highlighting, it comes up with an error saying that it can't save to this filename and requests that a new filename is entered. If we then save to a new file, and then save as to the original file it works.

So basically this user is having to save the PDF file twice after highlighting - which is annoying.

The strange thing is it appears to only be happening with PDFs created from certain applications on our system (payroll software and BACS processing software) whilst other PDFs work fine. Another user, also using Adobe Reader 11 and also using Windows 8 64 Bit, can open up the problem files, highlight text and save the changes without any problem at all, so it doesn't appear to be the files themselves.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Adobe Reader without any success.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Thanks
