We have Adobe products, Acrobat Pro 9.0 and Reader 10.1.4. When a client goes to Check for Updates, Adobe Updater will report that Update Failed.
We have noticed that when we browse to some Adobe websites, a message box appears on the bottom of IE9 stating, "Internet Explorer blocked this website from displaying content with security certifcate error."
A check of the html interaction revealed the problem to be a certificate chaining error with a certificate on the backend, apparently a server that the Updater goes to for some information.
This error and the, "Update Failed," message reported by Adobe Updater occurs with both Acrobat Pro and Reader. The error just began to appear last month. Prior to that time the update worked fine.
It is not feasible for all of our 5,000+ clients to manually update the product (read uninstall ArcobatPro/Reader and then reinstall) everytime a change is published.
Can anyone out there affect a check with the backend server at Adobe to determine the cause/fix so the automatic update can work again?
