There was a RAISE without a handler. The application will now exit.

this keeps popping up and I cannot open pdfs now-  using a macbook  how can this be resolved? Did not happen until recently and have Acrobat Reader DC and Acrobat PRO and used since last summer without an issue. Any ideas??
