When embedding the pdf file in excel, acrobat and excel would freeze up. When going into the task manager I found there were multiple instances of the program running, even though there was only one pdf file open. When I would end the acrordr32.exe process on either computer used, the excel pdf embed would work right away. This led me to the root cause being acrordr32.exe. In order to test, before I wrote the batch file, we would open excel, attempt an embed and it would fail. I would then exit excel, end the acrordr32.exe process and bring up excel again, this time it would work. We did it multiple times to make sure. For some reason when a pdf file is opened, acrobat doesn’t not close, even when you go to file > exit. It stays open in the background under acrordr32.exe. For some reason this messes up the embed.
What can be done with Adobe Reader to make this issue go away?
