Using Adobe Reader, version 9,10, or 11.
Selecting text does not always work as expected.
I have a document and want to select some test. Sounds easy - use the text selection tool to click and drag.
What happens is I get part way through selecting a line of text when (upon reaching an certain point in the text) the selection changes and then other various regions on the page are selected. No matter how I try to perform the selection, the results are the same. I cannot select that part of the document I want.
Now I have seen this in a few documents from different authors so its not the particular document. The document is not protected in any way.
The particular document I am using as a test case is :
I have read about every post on this and other web sites, and so I know I could try to print, scan, and use OCR, but this seems more like a bug in Reader.
I have also tried using other third party readers and the behavoir is the same. I did get a block select to highlight the text I wanted, but when I go to paste it into a diffferent document, the order is all screwed up (a few words from the first sentence, then some from the second, and then some of the numbers from the numbered list...). Copy and paste has been around since the forst word processor, please Adobe, make it work in Reader too.
thanks in advance to anyone who supplies a reason and/or solution to this problem
