Display of Arabic Text

I recently saved a Microsoft Word document, containing Arabic text, as a PDF file; however, when I opened the document up in Adobe Reader, the 2nd and 3rd position forms of the Arabic characters had all been changed to their 1st form.    

        For example:    

        تقدير

        displays as    

        ت قدي ر    

        Is there anything I can do to get the Arabic text rendered correctly?
