How to open an url via command line?

Hi all,

I want to open a pdf file via a command from a web location. I try this: "AcroRd32.exe http://server/path/file.pdf" to do so, but this way results in an error message about bad filename.

Is it possible to open a pdf in such a matter?

Background:

We use a CRM, the CRM use of webdav to allow content changes. The CRM is written in JSP and use a java applet to start the appropriated application for changing the content of a document. This works fine for all sorts of apps (winword, texteditors), only acrobat has problems with approach.
