I am trying to print a 127MB(40,000 page) file using reader 11(10 and 9 also tried). After pressing print, the progress bar appears but never increments and monitoring the processor list show the ram usage increasing and increasing. When the file is loaded there are two reader processes(4.5MB and 18MB) and several minutes after pressing print, the 18MB process gets to 1.8GB and reader gets Out of Memory box and crashes. I have 20GB of ram and 100GB hard disk on a windows 2008 server, so plenty of space. I have printed larger size files(256MB) with only about 900 pages and those begin processing and printing almost immediately.
A few questions:
1) What is reader doing during this progress bar?
- Is it rendering the entire document?
- Does linearization help?
2) I know this has been asked a million times on the web, but are there any limits for reader(page, memory, size, etc)?
3) Are there settings(either in reader or in registry) that will resolve my issue?
4) Since I have crashed sooner on a smaller machine, I am curious if reader is limiting its ram usage on a percentage basis. i.e.Used/Free.
5) If memory issue gets addressed, can i speed up the progress. Takes way too long to get started.
I really, really need to figure this out or find an alternative to pdf.
Thank you in advance.
