I have some material prepared in Word 2007 using Windows XP Pro SP3. In this Word docx I have placed several hyperlinks to other local documents and websites. I have saved this docx as a .pdf because we cannot afford Adobe Acrobat. And from the saved .pdf I should be able to preserve the hyperlinks. But...
Links to the web work fine. Links to the local document system do not. There are two issues:
- When I click on the link for the local document, an Adobe box appears begging me to Allow.
Notice that the "Remember" box is checked for all PDF documents. I don't know what should be set for .DOCX so I left it be. What happens after l Allow is the browser (IE8) starts up and shows me my home page (Google). On my system, I've check associations and .DOCX files are set to launch Word, not the browser.
Is this a Security issue? Take a look at my Security (Enhanced) panel:
This interferes with my workflow (d'ya think?) so I set about trying to get Adobe to obey. Note the fact that I've told Adobe Reader to set the specific docx as a "Priveleged Location" meaning that it has trust. I've turned all buttons and checkboxes off and get the same results. It launches a browser and doesn't provide the typical "Open / Save / Cancel" Windows dialog.
2. Now, when I kill the Reader and try again, Reader still insists on putting up the "Allow / Block / Cancel" even though I told it to remember. Why is that?
So, can anyone advise as to what my next step would be on both these annoying occurances. I'm fairly computer literate. I can dabble in the registry if needed. Please let me know what I need to do.
