Updates clear preferences. Acrobat XI, Win7

For the last 25 years, it SEEMS LIKE Adobe has been putting out about 1 Acrobat update every day. It's probably actually closer to bi-weekly. PROBLEM: Every update resets my preferences to default. For the last several years I've just slogged along with the default preferences and avoided using it when I can.  SOLUTION????   Acrobat XI, Windows (any ver!)
