I am unable to download adobe reader

I am unable to install adobe reader.  I had adobe reader installed and when downloading Cantax the
Cantax program would not download due to adobe readeer.  I then uninstalled all adobe insstalls and when I attempted to reaload the download for (free addition).  I first saved to download files and documents and this was deleated the moment I entered "run".  The installation would then run to about 73% and skip to finish and I would get a message that the installation was successful.  BUT no download would appear in the adobe file and the adobe program would not install.
