Seeing odd characters instead of underscores?

I have a client who is seeing  odd characters in this pdf when viewed online but not when downloaded to his PC:

He is seeing:

Agreed to and signed this BBBBGD\ RI BBBBBBBBBBBB    BBB   

"Agreed to and signed this _______day of  ______________________"

and

Client 6LJQDWXUH  Signature instead of  "Client Signature"

He says he has the latest reader.  I'm trying to figure out what might be happening.   I am wondering if it is because the optimized pdf might have referenced fonts instead of embedded fonts?
