Due to the way our Windows domain is setup we have users with redirected folders and different privilige rights for the computers in use.
This cause problems with updates. And on occasions with installs.
While it is possible to give a different user account with admin rights in response to the UAC, the installer then fails because it can't access a particular users folder either on the computer or the network.
The answer it seems to me is to specify a (common) temporary directory for use during the installation or install.
I have the customization wizard and the Direct Editor includes a listing for "TempFolder" with an initial setting of ".:Temp" which I interpret as referring to the default windows temporary folder - which under recent versions of Windows is a folder named "temp" somewhere in the user profile folder structure.
I would rather this was somewhere which is guaranteed to exist and which has access under admin rights - eg a location on the computer hard drive such as under Windows 7 default/appdata/local/temp.
Anyone had experience with this they can share. ?
