I'm trying to upgrade a Windows XP, SP3 computer from Adobe Reader 8 to Adobe Reader 11. I go to the download page for Reader 11, successfully download the install file (install_reader11_en_mssd_alh.exe), run the install, get a successful completion, and when I'm done I've installed--Adobe Reader 8! I tried this a few times, tried rebooting; doesn't matter. Control Panel shows only Adobe Reader 8.1.6 installed. I am flummoxed. I considered uninstalling Adobe Reader 8 and then trying the install of 11, but in searching this forum for enlightenment on my issue, I came across postings from users who uninstalled a version of Reader and then couldn't install the next version, so I'm concerned about ending up with NO working Reader on my computer. I've never seen anything like this. Ideas?
