Unable to open PDF files with DC - memory error

Hello - I just installed Acrobat Reader DC and received the following error message when trying to open a file:

The instruction at 0x0000000063E55273 referenced memory at

0x0000000000000000. The memory could not be read.

I tried re-installing several times without success. Any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks!

Application Error when opening PDF Document

Received two emails in past week with a PDF attached to each.

On opening one PDF it came up with a banner which said "Font Capture AcroRd.exe - Application Error and some text about instruction at referenced memory. The memory could not be read".

On opening the other PDF it came up with a banner which said "DDE Server Window AcroRd.exe - Application Error and some text about instruction at referenced memory. The memory could not be read".

Could do nothing with either document and clicking the OK button on the banner closed Adobe.

Only way I could find to get around this was to open Adobe, go to Help and click on Check for Updates. The result of doing so is a message that says "No Updates Available". However If I then open either of the PDFs the banner does not appear and I can scroll down, print etc etc.  But this "fix" only lasts the one time. If I try to open the other PDF or the same ione again, up comes the banner and I have to check for Adobe updates again !

Help please,

Thanks,

Dave.

How to disable reader stealing focus when a file is draged over it

$

Hi

I have always liked the Adope Reader except for one thing and that is: When the reader steals the focus on drag-over and it doesn't even matter what kind of file it is, pdf or not. Among all programmers it is considered very bad practice.

It is actually a little strange that Adope Reader can steal the focus, because on windows it has not been allowed since windows 2000, the only thing that is allowed is to make the button on the taskbar flash according to windows, see the remarks section here: SetForegroundWindow function (Windows)

Is there anyway I can disable this annoying behaviour in the Adope reader ?????

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Asger

Latest Reader DC update javascript really slow in IE 11

Howdy,

I'd like to bring this to the attention of Adobe and see if anybody else is seeing this problem.  I have several sites that display PDF's in a Frameset that allows the user to "navigate" to other PDFs or close the window.  With this latest update from Reader DC this has become unusable.  Clicking on the "Close" link that simply looks like this:

     <a href="#" onclick="top.close();return false;" target="_top">Close</a>

takes several seconds to exectute.  While it is doing it the "Reader" Icon shows up on the task bar.  Other Buttons on the page also take 10 to 15 seconds to execute where it used to take milliseconds.  The problem does not exist in Firefox or Chrome in any of the tests that I ran.  It took a while to narrow it down to the update from Reader but my last test I had an Windows Server 2008 with the latest IE 11 updates and a version of Reader DC from a couple weeks ago.  The problem did not exist initially and I manually "updated" Reader through Readers "Help - Check for updates" menu option.  After the update completed the problem presented itself when trying to view these PDFs.

I"m open to options.  Right now I am steering users to Firefox or Chrome as a solution.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cannot access Internet after new Adobe Acrobat Reader DC installed

$

I have Windows PC laptop version 8.1.

When updated Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on my laptop (I think Adobe installed it), I can no longer access Internet on my laptop with Chrome (or with Internet Explorer, which I usually do not use, but tried to use in desperation) - I always use Chrome.

Now every time I attempt to reach a URL in Chrome, the URL times out - I enter the URL, Chrome attempts to open it, and the site times out - I have tried this with multiple URLs, including my email accounts, and cannot enter a website except for google.com (which apparently eventually opens after multiple tries by me to refresh screen) - all other sites time out before I can reach them.

I therefore no longer have access to the Internet on my laptop, and have no other source for an Internet connection.

Please help!

Is there some way to access the Internet with this new version of Adobe Acrobat Reader?

Should I try to uninstall this new version of Acrobat Reader on my laptop (I do not know how to do this)?

and then try to download another free version of Acrobat Reader?

I am looking for a job and have to have Internet access to continue my job search (as well as my other normal Internet activities).

Below is what I see on my laptop when I look at Adobe Reader:

Plus sing ("+") shows up in some fields

Hi.  Why is a plus sign showing up at the right lower corner of some of the fields on the form I just created. It only shows up in a few fields, like the zip code field. I didn't do anything different to create each field.

It shows up when I print the completed form as well. How do I get rid of it?

Thank you,

Anne

We are trying to save an adobe file to a location where it last remembers.  However, it keeps changing the default location to C:https://pcl.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=\Users\https://pcl.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=<user id>https://pcl.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=\AppData\Local/Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5.  It does not happen to other workstations.

We are on Adobe Acrobat XI version 11.0.09.

I tried going to Edit>Preferences>Documents(category)https://pcl.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=>Save Settings(on the right)https://pcl.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article= and uncheck https://pcl.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article="Automatically save document changes to temporary file every:https://pcl.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article= __ minutes https://pcl.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=(1-99) but that did not work.

Any ideas on what else I can try.

Malicious Programs Downloaded with Acrobat Reader Update

I already contacted Adobe Help/Chat and got a case No. 0220904483; the agent was Ajay Kumar. I explained my issue to him and he sent me a link to Adobe Forum where i would get help from experts.

Below, I am summarizing my issue once more:

I use a Mac and Google Chrome. On my Mac are 2 Adobe programs installed:

AdobeFlashPlayer_21_a_install.dmg

AdobeReader_dc_en_a_install.dmg

Repeatedly, after I get prompted to update my Adobe and do it, my Mac significantly slows down and is often blocked. When I upgrade Adobe, 2 malicious programs (see below) get downloaded into my Mac. When I ignore the prompt to update Adobe, I cannot shut down my Mac - the system reports that Adobe prevented the Mac from shutting down. I learned to go to my hard disk, into Library, under LaunchDaemons and check for malicious programs. Everytime, following 2 programs are there:

com.adobe.ARMDC.Communicator.plist

com.adobe.ARMDC.SMJobB…helper.plist

When I delete these 2 programs, the problem is solved. Until the next time I am prompted to update Adobe.

Can somebody help me with this issue?

We recently got a new printer for our office.  It is a Epson Workforce WF-2760.  All other programs will print except for Adobe.  I have made sure that the correct printer is selected.  I have also contacted Epson.  They directed me to you guys.  Please help me correct this problem.  We use this function a lot in the office, and it is a hassle when it doesn't print.

It was ok in the beginning , I gradually started having printing problems. Now I can not print PDF files at all. Apple helped me to get the Adobe preview when I am printing and worked , but now it went back to regular page and I can not see the preview anywhere anymore. Did anybody have this problem before?

Hey!

(I am on a Macbook Pro running OS X El Capitan)

I am urgently trying to obtain a document off of a government website, but when I try to open it via clicking their link I am given the following message:

Please wait...

If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document.

You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows, Mac, or Linux by visiting http://www.adobe.com/go/reader_download.

For more assistance with Adobe Reader visit http://www.adobe.com/go/acrreader.

SO I have uninstalled Adobe, Reinstalled Adobe and tried all the tricks online to fix this. I have also restarted my computer.

Hi,

I'm getting an error message to ensure that the 'highlight fields' button in the purple bar is deselected. The problem is that I have no button and no purple bar.

Reader says that it is up-to-date. I used it a couple of months ago to do this same document with no problem and haven't touched any of the settings, so I'm a bit stumped!

Please can someone help?

Thanks in advance! Chris

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC becoming unresponsive on Windows 10

$

I've been using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on the same computer with Windows 10 for at least a year now, and haven't had any problems with it. Today, however, it's started freezing. The program becomes completely unresponsive and I can't get it to shut down at all. I also can't get it to minimize into the toolbar, so it sits in the background and waits. It's been frozen like this for the third time today for about 15 minutes now. Please help!
